Her little--well, big!--dog character is based on her family's lovable German Shepherd, who is descended from police dogs, and always getting into scrapes--like the time he tried to play with a rattlesnake! He found out the hard way that that fun little shaking nose they make isn't actually a dog toy after all!
Of course, this story has nothing to do with rattlesnakes, but follows Rosco and his family along on their annual visit to a Autumn Farm Festival (which I just love going to at this time of year!). It's perfect for kids who are making progress with their independent reading, or for a read-along for younger kids. Doesn't that look like a wonderful path for a Regency hero and heroine to take a romantic stroll? Actually it reminds me of the scene in The Secrets of a Scoundrel where Gin and Nick ride on the horse together through her estate...sigh. :)
Well, I'm sad to see summer go, but I'm looking forward to the colorful days of fall ahead. Here's some of the new stuff going on around here...my newsletter subscribers will already have heard about this, but here goes...
ASCENSION TRILOGY AUDIOBOOKS ARE HERE!
The Pirate Prince in audio for the first time EVER, with Princess coming soon! Tantor Media got the oh-so-talented Elizabeth Wiley to narrate the tale. Listen to a sample here!
As many of you know, The Pirate Prince was my debut novel, and what's neat is that it was originally a Sept. 1998 release. So here we are on the "Sweet 16th" birthday of this book, and it's still going strong! It's had over 14 printings and is available around the world. I've been a very lucky author...
Available as CD's or MP3 download. 14 hrs long.
(Note: Full-length, unabridged audiobooks run $20-$27, and while subscriptions to audiobook services makes this fun format much more affordable, if you don't have one, why not fill out a request form that your local library buy a copy? I know the libraries around my house have great audiobook collections for their patrons - and they probably already have the paperback, so it could be worth a shot!)
Anyway, it'll be about a month or two before I'm ready to answer the question many of you have already written to me to ask, namely, What's next? I have started work on a new Regency series, and I look forward to unveiling details about that as soon as I'm far enough into the story that talking about it won't make me jinx myself! (lol) Either way, I appreciate your continued interest in my work.
The best way to find out when my next book is coming is to subscribe to my author newsletter, if you haven't already done so. As an added bonus, all subscribers are automatically enrolled in the monthly drawings for free books! (And pssst, there are some especially big prizes coming in November in honor of Thanksgiving, because I am so grateful for my readers, and in December, for Christmas!) Thanks again for reading!
