| - The Associated
Press sent reporter Kate Brumback to cover the National Romance
Writers of America Conference held in Atlanta at the end of July.
To our delight, Ms. Brumback (three cheers for her!) proved that
a reporter really can write an article about the romance genre without
making a single snide comment - more proof that our genre is finally
getting the respect it deserves. Read the widely syndicated article

- Worth another look ... This article
ran on "All About Romance" a few years ago, but in looking
at the evolving perceptions of the romance genre, it contains something
of a shocking revelation, so I wanted to pass it along. Like the
media, as noted above, the academic world is also finally coming
to a better understanding of what the romance genre is all about,
after having spent decades attacking us. Though this is a genre
for women, by women, about women, numerous feminist academics earned
their tenure by hanging the proverbial scarlet letter around romance
writers' necks. By the 90's however, many of them had begun to see
the error of their ways. Read and enjoy as one of the genre's formerly
most adamant critics recants. Link to article: http://www.likesbooks.com/mussell.html
Sure, the romance genre is a major force in the publishing industry.
Because the message matters.
Dear Reader,
My novels are all about our innate human capacity for love.
In my books, you’ll read about men and women learning to understand
each other, joining forces, overcoming their differences, and combining
their strengths to become a whole that’s greater than the
sum of its parts—not just falling in love, but building a
passionate relationship to last a lifetime.
It’s easy to be cynical about such things in today’s
world, but let a cynic fall in love, and you’ll smile to see
how quickly they change their tune. No one can hide from the truth.
Love in all its forms gives life meaning; it is the richest, sweetest
slice of life. Love holds the power to heal our wounds and to transform
us into better, kinder, wiser people. There’s a reason it’s
been called the greatest power on earth, and that is why romance—the
genre of love—is where I choose to dedicate my artistic efforts.
This message matters.
I hope these stories bring a little added joy and beauty to your
life. If they inspire you to a renewed appreciation of the people
you love and who love you, all the better.
With love,
Gaelen
