The Gryphon Chronicles, Book 1:
THE LOST HEIR

Jake is a scrappy orphaned pickpocket living by his wits on the streets of Victorian London. Weird things have been happening to him lately. He's started seeing ghosts, and can move solid objects with his mind! He has no idea why. Next thing he knows, a Sinister Gentleman and his minions come hunting him, and Jake is plunged headlong into a mysterious world full of magic and deadly peril. A world that holds the secret to who he really is: the long-lost heir of an aristocratic family—with magical powers!

But with treacherous enemies closing in, it will take all of his wily street instincts and the help of his friends—both human and magical--to solve the mystery of what happened to his parents, and defeat the foes who never wanted the Lost Heir of Griffon to be found . . .

NY Times and USA Today bestselling author E.G. Foley launches The Gryphon Chronicles, a new series of historical fantasy adventures (with a hint of steampunk!) that's as much fun for grownups as it is for kids. Learn more at

But legends of the Viking Age die hard in Scandinavia. Danger strikes as famous Victorian scientists start mysteriously disappearing. When Archie vanishes, too, Jake races to the rescue. With the help of his trusty pet Gryphon, he tracks the kidnapper to his lair—only to come face-to-face with an angry Norse giant!

E.G. Foley - Two heads are better than one.

Quick Q & A

Why the pen name?

We're releasing the children's novels under the pen name E.G. Foley because the Gaelen Foley romances are obviously not appropriate for kids. So you will see me mention the E.G. books here on my Gaelen website, but I will not be mentioning my Gaelen books over on the E.G. website. As much as I love writing passionate romances about true love, protecting the innocence of children is extraordinarily important to both Eric and me. They grow up too fast as it is. We say let kids be kids.

Is The Gryphon Chronicles available in paperback as well as digital formats?

Yes, it is currently available for Kindle, Nook, and trade-sized paperback (6x9, 312 pages, library quality).

How long is the book?

THE LOST HEIR is a full length novel, the same length as my romances - 100,000 words. It's on the long side for a kids' book (akin to the Harry Potters and the Mysterious Benedict Society, etc) but it's a big, intricate story, and between the Victorian setting and the magical aspects, we had a lot of "world building" to do in this first book in the series, so it's longer.

In future books, once Jake goes off to have his various adventures among different magical creatures (giants, dragons, mermaids, and more!) we expect the books to be a bit shorter. From what we've seen, though, kids aren't intimidated by a long book if there are lots of interesting things going on!

I'm a grownup. Why should I read this?

'Cuz books are supposed to be fun. But if you read romance, you already know that. *g* If you've enjoyed my romances, I think you'll have a good time seeing my take in this new direction.
